Sometimes I get overwhelmed with everything I have yet to do and it starts to invade my creative space. I think it happens to most creatives and it’s always a challenge to recharge and find ways to inspire your creativity again.
So, what do you do to recharge and find inspiration? What works and what doesn’t?
Here are some ideas to get you started!
- Get outside and find the beauty in things around you, nature is always changing! You cannot create inside a vacuum, surround yourself with beauty and experiences to feed your creativity.
- Take yourself on a date, do all the fun things that usually make you smile.
- Move around and make some mess; whether you grab paint and slap it on a canvas or, bake cookies while you dance, moving and creating is a process that you can jump start.
- Look at things you have created in the past and remember how it felt to create, what did you love about it? What challenged you? What inspired you? What would you do differently?
- Surround yourself with people who make your heart happy, spend time absorbing that joyous beautiful energy!
- Pick up some supplies (old or new) and just make something ugly; experiment with no expectations.
- Go back to basics and start simple; start with limited supplies or basic tools, do not go overboard. Simplicity is your goal!
- Journal or chat to a friend to process what makes you feel stuck and what makes your creativity flow
- Create something for someone else, make something that would make their heart happy, let that inspire you
- Learn something new about your craft and give it a go! Embrace the imperfections and enjoy the challenge!
