Letter writing

It’s a rainy autumn day just perfect for a little crafting and letter writing. I’ve made a pot of tea and sitting on the couch listening to the rain.

Product Review: digitals

 Product Review: Digitals

Just for something different I wanted to share some of the fun things in my stash right now. I’ve always loved to collage and sometimes I just want a generic simple focal point.

I found some paper doll digitals on Illustrated Faiths page and wondered how they would look with my style of smooshing things together. Motivated by a sale, I ended up buying the Beloved Society Proverbs 31 Girls digital collection. Lots of paper dolls that will mix and match with my paper collections and enough to have some variety.

What I like about digital products:

  • they are reusable, I can print and cut over and over and over again
  • I can tweak the colours on photoshop
  • I can use them on the computer or print them out
  • Instant download, no waiting for shipping
  • Digital products go on sale, and can be even more cost effective.

What I do not like about digital products

  • prices are usually a bit more than physical products
  • Copyright is very strict with sharing/using
  • I run out of ink very quickly

Here are some collages I made today, what do you think?

Recharge your creativity

Sometimes I get overwhelmed with everything I have yet to do and it starts to invade my creative space. I think it happens to most creatives and it’s always a challenge to recharge and find ways to inspire your creativity again.

So, what do you do to recharge and find inspiration? What works and what doesn’t?

Here are some ideas to get you started!

  1. Get outside and find the beauty in things around you, nature is always changing! You cannot create inside a vacuum, surround yourself with beauty and experiences to feed your creativity.
  2. Take yourself on a date, do all the fun things that usually make you smile.
  3. Move around and make some mess; whether you grab paint and slap it on a canvas or, bake cookies while you dance, moving and creating is a process that you can jump start.
  4. Look at things you have created in the past and remember how it felt to create, what did you love about it? What challenged you? What inspired you? What would you do differently?
  5. Surround yourself with people who make your heart happy, spend time absorbing that joyous beautiful energy!
  6. Pick up some supplies (old or new) and just make something ugly; experiment with no expectations.
  7. Go back to basics and start simple; start with limited supplies or basic tools, do not go overboard. Simplicity is your goal!
  8. Journal or chat to a friend to process what makes you feel stuck and what makes your creativity flow
  9. Create something for someone else, make something that would make their heart happy, let that inspire you
  10. Learn something new about your craft and give it a go! Embrace the imperfections and enjoy the challenge!
